The online world has grown and rapidly become a more visual and interactive place where the more engaged users feel, the more responsive and receptive they become. Digital marketing has adapted to this desire from users to be engaged and has now branched out into what is now referred to as video marketing. What exactly is video marketing though and how can you best utilize it for your business?
Similar to a commercial on TV, video marketing produces short snippets of video content with brief messages to be shown and shared with viewers. The difference between a normal television commercial though and video marketing is however that your video can be shared and displayed anywhere online such as your FB company page, YouTube, other social media platforms, through email, or even your own website. Video marketing is also far less expensive then creating a commercial and allows for users to feel more engaged as they will be able to quickly absorb whatever information you’ve put before them without having to sift through a lengthy article.
You may be wondering at this point what exactly you should put into the video though or even how long it should be. As tempting as it is to fill a video with as much information as possible, depending on which platform you use for displaying the footage your video should range between 30 seconds to five minutes in length. It’s difficult to maintain a viewers attention, and with platforms such as Instagram allowing only very brief videos, it’s important to keep your message concise. What sort of content should you put in your video though? Anything can go into your video, so what’s important is to make sure that the content you put in is something of value you believe your clients and viewers need to hear. It’s also important to remember that when addressing your viewers in the video that they may not know all of the technical terms you do and to treat the video like you are speaking to someone one on one to allow it to feel more personable.
With so many ways of creating videos it takes a bit of trial and error to find what works best for each business but the efforts are well worth the reward.
